Enter, Salome – The Red Goddess

Witness the epitome of dangerous female seductiveness,
with her iconic Dance of the Seven Veils.
Immortalised by Oscar Wilde, and made memorable in Richard Strauss’s Opera.

“No longer was she merely the dancing-girl who extorts a cry of lust and concupiscence from an old man by the lascivious contortions of her body;
who breaks the will,  masters the mind of a King by the spectacle of her quivering bosoms,  heaving belly and tossing thighs;

she was now revealed in a sense as the symbolic incarnation of world-old Vice,
the goddess of immortal Hysteria,
the Curse of Beauty supreme above all other beauties by the cataleptic spasm that stirs her flesh and steels her muscles,
– a monstrous Beast of the Apocalypse, indifferent, irresponsible, insensible, poisoning”
– Huysmans À rebours – Toni Bentley (2002) Sisters of Salome: 24

Kerryx is a smouldering and sultry bombshell waiting to be uncovered (literally!).

Join Kerryx as she takes you on a journey through the darker side of seduction.
With inspirations ranging from belly dance through to both classic and neo burlesque, she is known for her breath-taking performances with a touch of gothic enchantment.

Harzest Mag describes the event as “a room full of friendly people, an appreciation for art, beautiful models, unreal costumes and a truck load of fun times”

DJ Knave Knixx spins the tunes to keep things funky throughout the evening and of course, The Toff has one of Melbourne best stocked bars to keep your creative spirits well lubricated!

Rosy Rabbit returns to the stage in a galactic way!

After almost a year the stars have aligned at just the right time for the return of Rosy Rabbit with her tribute to  Barbarella… Forces of evil beware!

The year is 2040.
The Age of Man is over. The Machines are here.

Rosy Rabbit returns to the stage with a blast off performance at Dr Sketchy’s this August.

This is a PREMIERE NEVER SEEN PERFORMANCE.

—————————————————————————————-
Rosy Rabbit will then be performing this outta sight number as part of:

METROPOLIS 2040
In this brave new world, mechanical forces have overwhelmed the human race. Cyborgs, futurists, blade-runners and unseen computer bodies rule the cities. Communications with extra-terrestrial forms of life have succeeded. Humans, declared extinct by their computerised counterparts, have all become but a distant dream.

The world has descended into a sensual mash-up of hedonistic pursuit and robot love. With cameras on every corner, televisions on every street and computers in every room, Big Brother LIKES watching you, baby. And in an old, dark theatre at Red Bennies, space girls, robots and human hybrids are planning the greatest voyeuristic exploration this side of the millennium.

Metropolis 2040 is … 1984 meets Daft Punk.
Metropolis 2040 is … Fritz Lang meets Barbarella.

With performances from:

Extra-terrestrial tassle twirler … LA VIOLA VIXEN (QLD)

The angle-grinding live wire… SPARKARELLA

The modern-day Barbarella … ROSY RABBIT

Space-age aerial from the deadly… SKOPALOVA

The exotic and erotic… FRANKIE VALENTINE

Outre Gallery & Dr Sketchy’s present a Tribute to the art of Sylvia Ji

Celebrating five years of sketching entertainment, Dr Sketchy’s Melbourne in collaboration with Australia’s original alternative gallery, Outre Gallery brings you it’s first Art Star tribute session featuring the dramatic art of American painter Sylvia Ji.

Outre Gallery has just made the surprise announcement they will be holding a Pop-Up exhibition at the end of June featuring the powerfully mysterious and enchanting works of Sylvia Ji. With a cult following spanning the globe, this is a rare opportunity to see Sylvia’s paintings outside of America.

Art Star will see Dr Sketchy’s Melbourne presenting a sketch session based on the works of Sylvia Ji. Featuring two of Melbourne’s most loved underground performers recreating Sylvia’s women in ecstasy – images where desire and death sit very close. Sylvia’s works blend the mystery of Dia de los Muertos, the Otherness of femininity, the myths of beauty and a dark latent sexual energy, brought forth in rich colours and dramatic decoration.

Do not miss this rare opportunity to be enchanted by the art of Sylvia Ji and bewitched by the recreation of her images at this very special exclusive Dr Sketchy session.  This will be the first Dr Sketchy Art Star session outside of the US, with previous tributes to legends of the lowbrow and underground arts scene, Ron English, Tara McPherson and Cynthia Von Buhler.

Where: Outre Gallery, 249 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne

When: Sunday 26 June 4.30pm

How much: $20 bookings essential (strictly limited capacity)

Bookings: hello@drsketchymelbourne.com
