Mikelangelo and St Clare transport us to another world, Sunday 31st July

Last month Dr Sketchy’s celebrated 5 years of sketching entertainment.  Confirming our place as the world’s premier alternative life drawing movement with a tribute to US artist,  Sylvia Ji at Australia’s original alternative gallery,  Outre Gallery!

The session summed up by Harxest Mag “a room full of friendly people, an appreciation for art, beautiful models, unreal costumes and a truck load of fun times.”

So how on earth do we follow up a session like that?

Simple.

We upscale Dr Sketchy’s to ensure that you guys are guaranteed to have a great few hours of fun and sketching.

How.

Curtin House in Melbourne’s CBD has become a hub for literature, film and drinks.  It’s second floor bar,
The Toff in Town is a premier boutique performance space including a dedicated bar and dining area.

Dr Sketchy’s has joined forces with The Toff in Town to bring Melbourne a new era of
Dr Sketchy’s drawing entertainment.

Over 5 years we have hosted a veritable smorgasbord of beautiful, creative, passionate and sincere performers.  Each session has had its own life because of these people.

It is with upmost excitement that we bring you not one, but two incredibly talented and astonishingly handsome performers to celebrate this inaugural session at The Toff in Town in the historic Curtain House.

Internationally acclaimed and immaculately dressed, Mikelangelo.  Part-ringmaster, part-crooner, part-beast possessed. Mikelangelo has toured the world starring in the Olivier award-winning La Clique and with Kaberet Noir Band Mikelangelo and the Black Sea Gentlemen.

Saint Clare has a growing reputation nationally and internationally as a self styled singer, dancer and model. As described by the press St Clare is ‘ridiculously glamorous’, ‘a melodious and enchanting songbird’, ‘mysterious and mesmeric’.

Together Mikelangelo and Saint Clare create music that evokes an era of
sultry sophistication, another world and another time.

Outre Gallery & Dr Sketchy’s present a Tribute to the art of Sylvia Ji

Celebrating five years of sketching entertainment, Dr Sketchy’s Melbourne in collaboration with Australia’s original alternative gallery, Outre Gallery brings you it’s first Art Star tribute session featuring the dramatic art of American painter Sylvia Ji.

Outre Gallery has just made the surprise announcement they will be holding a Pop-Up exhibition at the end of June featuring the powerfully mysterious and enchanting works of Sylvia Ji. With a cult following spanning the globe, this is a rare opportunity to see Sylvia’s paintings outside of America.

Art Star will see Dr Sketchy’s Melbourne presenting a sketch session based on the works of Sylvia Ji. Featuring two of Melbourne’s most loved underground performers recreating Sylvia’s women in ecstasy – images where desire and death sit very close. Sylvia’s works blend the mystery of Dia de los Muertos, the Otherness of femininity, the myths of beauty and a dark latent sexual energy, brought forth in rich colours and dramatic decoration.

Do not miss this rare opportunity to be enchanted by the art of Sylvia Ji and bewitched by the recreation of her images at this very special exclusive Dr Sketchy session.  This will be the first Dr Sketchy Art Star session outside of the US, with previous tributes to legends of the lowbrow and underground arts scene, Ron English, Tara McPherson and Cynthia Von Buhler.

Where: Outre Gallery, 249 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne

When: Sunday 26 June 4.30pm

How much: $20 bookings essential (strictly limited capacity)
