Sunday June 12 2016 – the rebirth!

After a 12 month hiatus we have reflected, celebrated and collated the last 9 years of Sketchy mayhem.  This June Dr. Sketchy Melbourne will be rebirthed featuring the extraordinary living puppets of Sex Cake Monster, with performance artist Fox Flueger.

Breathing new life into the event with the promise of remaining the most entertaining and inclusive life drawing session in town we have teamed up with the wonderfully curious and strange beinArt Gallery.

Dr. Sketchy has been a boon to the art scene since its inception, promoting creativity and community in every city that runs one. A wildly inclusive event– young and old, those who have drawn before, and those who have never picked up a pencil, this is the perfect place to get your fill of drawing fun.

Like Kurt Vonnegut said “practising an art, no matter how well or how badly is a way to make your soul grow”

That’s a wrap…. or is it!

And so we celebrated 9 wonderful years with gorgeous performers and people.

My sincerest thanks to The Toff in Town, Agt Cleave, TANZER and Lilikoi Kaos for a stand out session.

If you were at the session you would already know the wonderful news.  Dr Sketchy’s is not dead – how could we!!

We are resting, collecting 9 years of art making wonder and distilling it into a new shiny era.

Stay tuned.

Good Bye!!!!!

SUNDAY JUNE 28th
Our 9th birthday and funeral

Dr Sketchy’s believes in drawing. The phrase ‘I can’t draw’ should be thrown out as much as “I can’t sing” and “I can’t dance”. Drawing is fun, creating is fun.

And as Mel recently announced, after 9 years Dr Sketchy’s Melbourne has only ONE SESSION LEFT!

Dr Sketchy’s is unquestionably the world’s premier alternative drawing movement, the idea based on turning our cities finest and fearsome performers and entertainers into the courtesians and muses that filled the world of Toulouse-Lautrec, Klimt, Schiele and more.

The count down is on and Mel is being utterly indulgent and requesting her nearest and dearest hit the stage.  Come say farewell to our monthly Toff in Town sessions on June 28th with some very special guests.

Don’t forget your sketch pad and pencils!

TICKETS AT TBA

ATTENTION!!

Lovely art monkeys.

You’re show of support has been overwhelming.

This Sundays session is going to be very busy and I’m so excited to have a room full of such wonderful people. There will be lots of good vibes.

To accomodate the amount of awesome please note the room set up will be different.

THERE WILL BE NO TABLES. If you typically bring your whole room worth of art supplies it might be best to just pick your favourite few items and bring them along.

PHOTOGRAPHERS – there will be no allowance for you to move around the space unless you are happy to remain on the periphery and be aware of the sightlines you might be blocking.

This really is going to be a memorable session. I promise Logan Jeffs , Vesper White and myself are ready to bring it.

I would encourage pre-purchase as we will do our best to admit you first – as long as you arrive when the doors open. The event still remains general admission.

SUNDAY MAY 31 prepare for myth, grace, mystery, beauty… and a bit of danger to sweep the stage.

Vesper White. Creatrix, Burlesque Performer, Visual Artist, Conceptualist, and all-round force to be reckoned with.
Best loved for her darkly alluring burlesque acts, Vesper has no fear in exploring the traditional, the horrifying and the bizarre. With her powerful, enchanting eyes, cheeky smile, an energy that has been likened to Bettie Page, and a hip-shake reminiscent of the Chicago State Fair exotics Vesper brings her jaw-dropping performance of ARTEMIS to Dr Sketchy’s Melbourne this month.

Dr Sketchy’s is wildly inclusive – young and old, those who have drawn before, and those who have never picked up a penci. You don’t need to be good at art to get something out of Dr Sketchy’s we want people to draw, and to gather together to draw, in the same way that they gather together to sing. Come watch an exotic performance, be inspired by what Melbourne has just beneath it’s surface and sketch your heart away.

Harxest Mag describes the event as “a room full of friendly people, an appreciation for art,
beautiful models, unreal costumes and a truck load of fun times”.
