2009 Spring Relaunch announcement! New venue – The Order Of Melbourne

We recently held our exclusive Winter Salon with the incomparable Marawa and Anthony in the Parlor Room of Madame Brussels Terrace Bar and Lounge – see photos of the session here:

It is with much excitement that we announce some BIG changes to Dr Sketchy’s Anti-Art School Melbourne!

We are very proud to announce our new venue will be….

The Order of Melbourne!

This quiet contender on the edge of the city is hidden behind an unassuming red door on Swanston Street. No meat head security standing out the front, no red ropes and no pink shirts.  Over the summer months expect to see a solid line up of local and international rock’n’roll, exotica, tropicalia, rhythm n’ blues, surf and glam rock. Plus crafternoons, vintage fairs, experimental theatre and performance art

Seating – This new venue means comfy, spacious seating! Either at the bar on stools, or at your own table or couch

Visibility – A 4 foot stage ensures your models will be entirely visible – from feathered hairpiece to peep-toe heels!

Location – Car parking surrounding the area, tram stops at the front door and Melbourne Central train station less than a block away, no excuse to not be there!

Another much requested change to Dr Sketchy is the time!

We will continue to run monthly

3rd Sunday of each month from 2pm for 3 hours

Please join me in this very exciting time for Dr Sketchy’s Melbourne, as we approach our Belle Epoch!

Our Launch Session will be

SUNDAY September 20th at 2pm, at The Order of Melbourne

KAYE SERA Saturday 24 January 4pm

A multi-talented singer, writer and media personality best known for her Breakfast radio work on JOY (94.9FM). She has also appeared on Bent TV (Channel 31) and on many drag stages around town – but don’t hold that against her.

Kaye’s cabaret act has been a popular addition to Midsumma and other Melbourne Festivals for several years. Kaye is one of the few Australian drag performers to sing live and has fostered a loyal fan base through her cabaret and other stage work.

MAX SHARAM Saturday 31 January 4pm

“Max is an award-winning artist of tremendous talent, one of the rising stars of the music and comedy world…”
(Dir George Miller- Mad Max, Babe..)

Recently returned from living in Manhattan and Berlin, ARIA-award winner Max brings story and song, wit and wickedness to a very fitting venue.

“Seemingly possessed by the soul of a punk rock angel and capability to evoke theatrics of Shakespearean magnitude with just a slight vocal inflection, Australian Max Sharam unravels fairy tales & lovelorn melodrama …” – LA Weekly

www.maxsharam.com

Max also performs her full cabaret show at The Butterfly Club

Dates: Wednesday 4 to Saturday 7 February (four performances)

Time: All shows at 9.00 pm

YANA ALANA Saturday 7 February 4pm

She’s frightening, alarming, but very, very funny.’ Melbourne Star

A performance poet and lady-of-certain-talents, Yana Alana is an old fashioned diva with a potty mouth and an outlook which is female-centric and decidedly not politically correct.

Yana Alana is the alter ego of Sarah Ward, also known as MC Sheila from SistaShe. A night with Yana may include tantrums, the hurling of targeted abuse, divine singing, acrobatic dancing and some incisive home truths. She has certainly devoured the boy in flamboyant.

Winner of the Melbourne Fringe Cabaret Award 2007

BITE ME nominated for 7 Green Room awards

**Please note – this session may contain nudity**
