Rosy Rabbit returns to the stage in a galactic way!

After almost a year the stars have aligned at just the right time for the return of Rosy Rabbit with her tribute to  Barbarella… Forces of evil beware!

The year is 2040.
The Age of Man is over. The Machines are here.

Rosy Rabbit returns to the stage with a blast off performance at Dr Sketchy’s this August.

Rosy Rabbit will then be performing this outta sight number as part of:

In this brave new world, mechanical forces have overwhelmed the human race. Cyborgs, futurists, blade-runners and unseen computer bodies rule the cities. Communications with extra-terrestrial forms of life have succeeded. Humans, declared extinct by their computerised counterparts, have all become but a distant dream.

The world has descended into a sensual mash-up of hedonistic pursuit and robot love. With cameras on every corner, televisions on every street and computers in every room, Big Brother LIKES watching you, baby. And in an old, dark theatre at Red Bennies, space girls, robots and human hybrids are planning the greatest voyeuristic exploration this side of the millennium.

Metropolis 2040 is … 1984 meets Daft Punk.
Metropolis 2040 is … Fritz Lang meets Barbarella.

With performances from:

Extra-terrestrial tassle twirler … LA VIOLA VIXEN (QLD)

The angle-grinding live wire… SPARKARELLA

The modern-day Barbarella … ROSY RABBIT

Space-age aerial from the deadly… SKOPALOVA

The exotic and erotic… FRANKIE VALENTINE

2009 Spring Relaunch announcement! New venue – The Order Of Melbourne

We recently held our exclusive Winter Salon with the incomparable Marawa and Anthony in the Parlor Room of Madame Brussels Terrace Bar and Lounge – see photos of the session here:

It is with much excitement that we announce some BIG changes to Dr Sketchy’s Anti-Art School Melbourne!

We are very proud to announce our new venue will be….

The Order of Melbourne!

This quiet contender on the edge of the city is hidden behind an unassuming red door on Swanston Street. No meat head security standing out the front, no red ropes and no pink shirts.  Over the summer months expect to see a solid line up of local and international rock’n’roll, exotica, tropicalia, rhythm n’ blues, surf and glam rock. Plus crafternoons, vintage fairs, experimental theatre and performance art

Seating – This new venue means comfy, spacious seating! Either at the bar on stools, or at your own table or couch

Visibility – A 4 foot stage ensures your models will be entirely visible – from feathered hairpiece to peep-toe heels!

Location – Car parking surrounding the area, tram stops at the front door and Melbourne Central train station less than a block away, no excuse to not be there!

Another much requested change to Dr Sketchy is the time!

We will continue to run monthly

3rd Sunday of each month from 2pm for 3 hours

Please join me in this very exciting time for Dr Sketchy’s Melbourne, as we approach our Belle Epoch!

Our Launch Session will be

SUNDAY September 20th at 2pm, at The Order of Melbourne

Tickets $15 – no booking fee

From Vancouver, Lydia De Carllo this March!!

Since hitting the east coast a few weeks ago, Lydia De Carllo (Vancouver) has already wowed audiences at Melbourne’s hottest burlesque night, Cristal Burlesque and we are now lukcy enough to have her on our stage this Wednesday 25 March!

Addicted to burlesque, a modern day pin up with a penchant for peep-toed shoes and a lust for 50’s hair, Lydia loves to shimmy, shake, and twirl tassels all in the name of tatas!

Rosy Rabbit at Dr Sketchys

Engines roaring, racing flag at the ready and Rosy Rabbit performing her Motor City Baby routine was the kick off to our latest installment of Dr Sketchy’s Melbourne! Rosy wowed the art monkeys with her gorgeous Isis wings and we raced home with a competition inspired by all things Egyptian (just like Isis, get it?). Check out the photos, swoon over Rosy and admire our art monkeys efforts.

Thank you to Rosy Rabbit, Alex, and all the lovely sketchers!

Check out all the photos at the flickr!

Next session Wednesday 24 September!
