What happens at Dr Sketchy’s?

I often meet people who tell me, “oh yes I love Dr Sketchy, but, I can’t come….  I can’t draw”

That is WHY we are here!  An all inclusive, fun space where we find the most talented, electrifying and wondrous performers for you to watch, get to know, and draw.
It’s all about scribbling and being creative, not about how impossible it really is to draw fingers!

Want to see what happens!  Well, watch these videos and get along to a session.

BAM BAM hits Dr Sketchy’s Melbourne!

It only took 10 years of Dr Sketchy’s – we FINALLY have her!!!!!

Bam Bam is a force to be reckoned with. Powerful, mesmerising, tender and strange.
This dangerous woman will take you on an uncomfortable journey into a dark world of desire and unrealistic expectations.

“Bam Bam is a dream from another time, a nightmare from another world”.

Not only is Bam Bam a scandalous performer, she is also the revolutionary force behind GRRL FEST– mini DIY festival is designed to celebrate, encourage and inspire women* artists and performers.

Art brings people together, regardless of age, colour, gender or sexual orientation. Theatre and the visual arts have been separated for too long. We seek to combine them, providing a space for people of all abilities to draw the flourishing alternative performance scene that might otherwise be inaccessible to the lone artist. This bringing together of scenes and crossing of boundaries is essential to what we do.

Dr Sketchy has been a boon to the art scene since its inception, promoting creativity and community in every city that runs one. A wildly inclusive event– young and old, those who have drawn before, and those who have never picked up a pencil, this is the perfect place to get your fill of drawing fun.

About Rites of Passage

Rites of Passage is a festival that celebrates creativity as a means to connect – not only with ourselves, but with one another, our various cultures, our ancestors and the Earth. People have marked their bodies with tattoos for thousands of years. These permanent designs – sometimes plain, sometimes elaborate, always personal – have served as amulets, status symbols, declarations of love, signs of religious belief, adornments and even forms of punishment. By celebrating the art of tattoo, music, visual art and environmental awareness, we’re creating a dynamic, shared space where people from all walks of life can look back on our tribal history and take conscious, informed steps forward towards positive change.
